Farmer’s Sausage with Pretzel Baguette on Flickr.
Brought a small piece of German experience with me back home. Dinner tonight of bratwurst, pretzel baguette, and salad. The salad of lettuce, dill, cucumbers, tomatoes, and avocado is dressed in an apple thyme walnut vinaigrette. Finally learned a good way of preparing bratwurst without bursting! The raw sausages were first parboiled in pear cider (preferably beer but I don’t have beer at home) then browned in frying pan. Delicious!
Get in the mood for Memorial Day Weekend with Strawberry Raspberry Shortcake. Buttermilk cake with fresh strawberries, raspberries, tangy whipped creme fraiche, and homemade balsamic raspberry jam. I made this for a belated birthday celebration with Little Brother.
Buttermilk cake recipe from Flo Braker’s Baking for All Occasions. I wrote about the balsamic raspberry jam previously. The rest was just made up on the spot. Get the recipe at Dessert By Candy.
Classic French yogurt cake with ground almond, bits of almond paste, raspberries, and pearl sugar. A pretty everyday cake that’s perfect for tea time.

Denmark/Germany/Sweden Shopping Finds or Why My Suitcase Was Heavy. @foodpr0n @rssuen @jingloh
German breakfast buffet with lots of Scandinavian influence totally beats a Full English. And apparently I can race after downing such generous amount of food in the morning. Iron stomach FTW.

If speculoo spread is good, Ovaltine Crunchy Cream ought to set your hearts racing @brooklynbaker @countrycleaver. Found at Germany grocery store. No more luggage space! Argh!
Love my Danish market lunch! I enjoyed smørrebrød topped with liver pate, cold meat, aspic, & pickles, a fillet of breaded deepfried pickled herring, coffee, multigrain bun, and Danish strawberries. Absolutely satisfying. Wish you were here to share this with me!
Can’t get enough pickled herrings. These were bought from proper fishmonger. So good. Picnic: Marinated Herrings, Fish Croquette, Pølsehorn, Multigrain Bun on Flickr.
Dessert: Dansk Koldskål med citronsaft is lemon flavoured skim milk with vanilla cookies. Apparently a traditional Danish snack not found anywhere else. The taste reminds me of drinkable yogurt. Quite tasty in my opinion.
Bacon Ost, aka bacon in a tube, found in Sweden. Perhaps I need this in my life. Perhaps.
